Intergenerational england projects
Intergenerational action on the ground
At Intergenerational England, our advocacy is rooted in action — we build relationships and champion both local and national change. Operating across the country, we partner with people, places and systems to embed meaningful intergenerational connection through a range of projects and initiatives.
Our sessions involve elements of music, storytelling, theatre, movement, nature, food and arts sessions in care homes, schools, libraries, hospitals and community spaces delivered in partnership with Intergenerational Music Making and local partners.

Intergenerational Skills & Workforce Pathways: Building an Inclusive Future
Intergenerational England’s Workforce and Skills Framework champions a connected approach to learning, creativity and employment, ensuring that people of all ages can contribute to and benefit from an inclusive economy.
We work across education, community and industry systems to create pathways that link young people, mid-career professionals and older workers through mentoring, volunteering and creative collaboration. These intergenerational exchanges build essential social, emotional and professional capabilities, communication, leadership, digital confidence, resilience that underpin successful transitions into the workforce.
Our approach connects schools, colleges, housing associations, local councils and employers to design programmes that open up routes into apprenticeships, creative industries, health and care roles, and local enterprise, particularly for those facing disadvantage. By embedding arts, culture, and community innovation into employability and skills development, we foster curiosity, creativity and civic purpose alongside economic opportunity.
Through research, pilot projects and national advocacy, we are shaping a system-wide model for intergenerational workforce renewal, where learning, wellbeing and work are not confined by age and every generation plays a role in building a fairer, more connected society.

Community Innovation labs
We deliver Community Innovation Labs and Talking Generations workshops and podcasts to spark meaningful intergenerational dialogue and strengthen connections across age groups.
Through our people-led programmes, we develop life skills, promote civic action and support young people to lead on social causes such as tackling ageism and loneliness through mentoring and campaigning.
Training, mentoring & capacity building
We deliver tailored training, mentoring and upskilling workshops for professionals across healthcare, housing, youth work and social care, helping them to embed intergenerational models into everyday policy and practice. This includes cross-generational mentoring schemes, peer learning, and practical tools for frontline staff to reduce loneliness, improve health outcomes and strengthen community connection. By investing in workforce training and group action, we can move away from siloed, age-segregated systems and towards models that recognise and harness the strengths of every generation.
